ITR Tensioning Wheel for KOBELCO 50 SR
They are produced from selected high-quality steel alloys and appropriately heat-treated to ensure exceptional field performance in extreme working conditions. Idler wheels ITR are assembled using state-of-the-art seals and bearing designs, manufactured according to the most stringent industry specifications. Assembly is carried out on assembly lines with an automated oil filling process. Idler wheels can be selected in various configurations:
- Tensioning wheel shell
- Tensioning wheel with bushing and shaft
- Tensioning wheel with brackets

- Tensioning wheel with tensioner
Quality of ITR Tensioning Wheels
The range of tensioning wheels includes equipment from mini excavators to mining machines from KUBOTA® K008 (machine working weight 0.9 tons) to KOMATSU® D475 A5 (machine working weight 101 tons). Engineering and R&D departments are located in Italy, South Korea, and China and collaborate to combine know-how, technology, and development capabilities. Engineering departments located in each production plant have specific knowledge of locally manufactured components, while the headquarters of Italian Engineering coordinates all activities.
Functionality of ITR Tensioning Wheels
The function of the tensioning wheel is to support the track chain and guide it so that it is properly wound. Additionally, the tensioning wheel and tensioner work together to maintain a specified degree of track tension. The most important controllable factor in undercarriage wear is correct chain tension. The correct sag for all conventional tracks is about 50mm (+-5mm). For example, a track on a machine with 80 horsepower and a sag of 12mm will have a tension value of 2540 kg when measured at the track tensioner. The same machine with a suggested sag of 50mm will have a tension value of 362 kg. An excessively tight track increases pressure, causing greater wear on the track bushings at the point of contact with the sprocket teeth and in the chain-tensioning wheel-roller contact. Tread hardness equal to or greater than that of the chain links, idler rollers, and support rollers ensures impact resistance and balanced durability. Material type: SCMn3A, hardening 50-55 HRC. Lifetime lubrication to minimize maintenance.
