Quality of ITR Tension Wheels
Our range includes a wide selection of tension wheels, from mini excavators to mining machines, ensuring high quality and performance. Starting from KUBOTA® K008 (with an operating weight of 0.9 tons) to KOMATSU® D475 A5 (with an operating mass of 101 tons), we offer comprehensive solutions. Our engineering and R&D departments in Italy, South Korea, and China collaborate to combine know-how, technology, and development capabilities. Local engineering departments at each production facility have specialized knowledge about the manufactured components, and the Italian Engineering headquarters coordinates all activities.
Functionality of ITR Tension Wheels
The function of the tension wheel is to properly tension and guide the track chain, ensuring its correct winding. The tension wheel and tensioner work together to maintain a specified degree of track tension. Efficient chain tension is a key factor affecting the durability of the undercarriage. The optimal deflection for conventional tracks is about 50mm (+-5mm). For example, a track in a machine with 80 horsepower with a deflection of 12mm will have a tension of 2540 kg at the moment of measurement in the track tensioner. In contrast, the same machine, with the suggested deflection of 50mm, will have a tension of 362 kg. An overly tensioned track increases pressure, leading to greater wear of the track bushings and drive wheel teeth, as well as contact between the chain and the tension wheel and rollers. Appropriate tread hardness, equal to or greater than that of the chain links and drive and support rollers, ensures resistance to impacts and balanced durability. Material: SCMn3A, hardening 50-55 HRC. Constant lubrication ensures minimal maintenance throughout the life of the product.
